The event began with participants meeting at 8.00am, out front of “The Local” pub at 24 Bay Street, Port Melbourne and after enjoying a quick light breakfast of muffins and juice, headed off on the long ride in the usual bunch formation (long line of two riders abreast).
With some regular stops along the way to refuel with energy gels and snack bars, the group successfully completed the route in around 3.5 hours travelling at around 30kmh.
The ride culminated at around midday at Catani Gardens in St. Kilda, with all participants enjoying a tasty hot barbecue and cold drinks while relaxing, cooling down and chatting with other riders sharing some tips and advice.
We’d like to congratulate all members for completing the 3.5 hour aerobic endurance event successfully and thank everyone for such a great morning as it was a great workout and alot of fun.
We look forward to all members maintaining their cycling routine and participating in this annual event, "bigger and better" again next year. Good luck to all of those riders also competing in this Saturday’s “Around the Bay in a Day” and we’ll see you at the gym AND on Beach Road!
