Meet Dan our new Centre Manager

Child 57

Introducing Dan.

Dan can you tell us a bit about your background in health and fitness?

I've been in the industry for about 15 years. I started off as a personal trainer, and I've worked at Fitness First, Virgin Active, Monash Aquatic Centre. I've spent a fair amount of time in management- most recently as Assistant Manager at PARC. I'm very passionate about fitness.

What does it mean to you to the manager of Aquarena?

It means a lot- it's an opportunity to make a difference in the community, to motivate and support community members to reach their goals, and assist with breaking down barriers that might be preventing them from reaching their goals. I think it gives me a platform to have a positive impact on the community

How are you finding your first month?

I'm absolutely loving the centre, and I've enjoyed learning about Aquarena's history and spending time with staff. I'm really looking forward to getting to know more members.

What do you do in your spare time?

I look after my little girl Harper, and spend time with family and friends. I train for Iron Man and Cycling events.

What is your favourite Television show?

My non-serious answer is The Bachelor. My serious answer is Shark Tank

Foundation Y Wishing Tree Appeal

Wishing Tree

For over 10 years Aquarena members and guests have brightened up the Christmas of many disadvantaged children within Manningham by donating to our annual Christmas gift appeal. Along with Doncare, you are providing the opportunity for a family going through a very difficult time financially to choose from a selection of gifts & find a present that will be just right for their child this Christmas. Please help us continue the tradition by selecting a gift card from our Christmas Tree located in the Aquarena reception foyer and return it to us with a gift for a special child.

Thank-you for your support, goodwill and compassion.

A big welcome to Dan!

National Age Titles 2015

National Age Titles 2015

April 2015 was the first time in two decades that an Aquarena based athlete has competed at National Age Titles. Kayla Costa, who trains with Doncaster Templestowe Swim Club qualified for, and competed in, seven events in her debut at national level swimming. Of her seven events, she lit up the pool to not only achieve great PB's but gain two finals births.

Stepping up in a hotly contended field of 10 of Australia's fastest swimmers, Kayla thrived on the challenge placing strongly in incredibly close finals; 4th in the 100 Fly and 8th in the 200 Fly. Kayla trains in the National Development Squad at Aquarena and can be seen doing what she loves most, training hard. For more info see our Squad Program.
