Latest news: Around the bay

A big congratulations to the many enthusiastic and physically fit members and staff who participated in Australia's largest single day bike ride the “Around the bay in a day” cycling event on Sunday 17th October.

Braving a very cold and windy Melbourne Spring Sunday, they joined over 16,500 other committed enthusiasts who participated in this year's HBA Around the Bay in a Day.

Large crowds enjoyed a fabulous family atmosphere as returning riders were cheered past the finish line into Alexander Gardens. The event, organised by Bicycle Victoria, aims to raise $1million for the Smith Family.

At the conclusion of the “Around the bay in a day” cycling event, thousands of riders entered the Alexandra Gardens finishing area where live music, entertainment, corporate hospitality, food and beverage facilities were located, making it a great end to a fun but somewhat tyring day for those participants who chose to complete the 210 and 250km distances.

Aquarena members and staff wearing the unique cycling jersey developed for the day were last seen enjoying a cold drink in Spokes bar along with some well deserved hot food.

Cycling is a great form of low impact exercise which is perfect for fat burning, aerobic fitness, cardio-vascular health and muscular endurance, so we look forward to more and more members setting the goal to participate each year.
