On
Saturday December 5th, Aquarena held its popular annual Aquatic Education
Carnival for students who participate in weekly aquatic education lessons throughout
the year.
The
day was a great success with over 200 more participants than have attended in previous
years, enjoying all the fun and games and events.
This
resulted in even more children having yet another positive experience in the aquatic
environment having fun and making friends while learning essential swimming and
water safety skills.
The
afternoon saw the preschool students participate in games and races in the Leaner’s
Pool whilst the school age children competed against each other in 25m and 50m pool
events.
It
was great to see the wonderful sportsmanship and excitement from students,
teachers and parents, as the children competed in and completed their races,
many for the first time.
Once
students had finished their events, all participants received a competition ribbon
as well as walking away with a positive sense of achievement.
All
participants also received a certificate which was included in the carnival show
bag which every child received, and they were also able to meet the popular children’s
character “Philbert the Frog” poolside, whilst enjoying a tasty barbeque lunch.
The
day was successful mostly due to the much appreciated help and support from our
valued aquatic education staff team who volunteered all of their time, Da Di
Censo and Sons Butchers (Tunstall square) who donated the barbeque sausages and
J.C Bakery (Jackson Court) for donating the bread.
We
look forward to seeing even more aquatic education students participating and
enjoying all of the festivities next year.
