Taekwondo

As a form of self defence, taekwondo has proven to be fun and highly effective for all ages and genders.

Taekwondo can assist in developing self-confidence, fitness, flexibility and friendship for all individuals as they exercise with other participants in a challenging group environment.

Taekwondo is an exciting style of martial arts that originated in Korea over 2000 years ago and is now accepted at the Olympic level, exciting and entertaining spectators with its speed and unique kicking skills.

History of Taekwondo at Aquarena

The Melbourne taekwondo centre has been managing the program at Aquarena for over ten years being originally established in 1967 by Jack Rozinszky, the first Australian to become a black belt in this style. MTC has a current membership of over 2000 students and is affiliated with Taekwondo Australia, the World Taekwondo Federation, Asian Taekwondo Union, Oceana Taekwondo Union, the Australian Coaching council and Australian Sports Commission.

Your Instructors

Greg and Bronwyn Butterworth are co-instructors at Aquarena. Both are 6th Dan black belts with years of experience. Greg has been a State and National coach and is an international referee. Bronwyn has represented Australia on many occasions. In December 1999 she was selected into the hall of fame and won the finweight position in the "Dream Team" (team of the 20th century) of taekwondo players.
