YMCA Aquasafe
The YMCA Aquasafe Program provides participants with the opportunity to learn essential swimming and water safety skills through a progressive aquatic education program catering for all ages and abilities. Classes are conducted in a relaxed but stimulating environment. They are designed to provide a solid foundation for a lifelong enjoyment of the water.
YMCA Aquasafe Program
Seven levels are included in the progressive YMCA Aquasafe Program that includes the following elements:
- Personal Development
- Water Safety
- Stroke Development
- Open Water Skills
- Fun and Fitness
Aquasafe Levels
- Octopus
- Salmon
- Tuna
- Eel
- Flying Fish
- Dolphin
- Shark
Class size: 6 students, class duration: 27 minutes.
School age children are placed into class according to aquatic skill level. Children are presented with opportunities to learn swimming and water safety skills whilst developing a healthy respect for the aquatic environment. Salmon classes are divided into Shallow and Deep water classes for an easier transition from Octopus to the 25m pool while learning stroke technique. Shallow Salmon classes are conducted in the Learner pool with some deep water activities whilst Deep Salmon classes are conducted in the 25 metre pool.

How to Enroll
Bookings may be made in person at reception or by telephone (9848 0000). Payment of the first month’s fees are required when booking. If you are making a telephone booking, initial payment will be required by with either Visa or Mastercard.

An assessment is required to determine the appropriate class level.
Term assessment times: Monday - Friday 4.00pm-6.00pm, Saturday 9.00am - 12.00pm
Holiday assessment times: Monday – Friday 9.00am – 10.00am
